● WHY APOB Every atherogenic particle (LDL, VLDL, IDL, Lp(a)) carries exactly one ApoB on its surface. ApoB counts every particle that can deposit in an artery wall. LDL, C measures cholesterol content, ApoB measures particle number. Particle number is the better predictor of events. The two diverge most in metabolic syndrome and high triglycerides, the people who need the better marker most.
