GHRP-6 is a hexapeptide ghrelin receptor agonist that releases growth hormone from the anterior pituitary. The grandfather of the GHRP class.
Mechanism — GHSR-1a agonism drives both GH secretion and hunger via NPY/AgRP neurons in the hypothalamus. The appetite effect is dose-dependent and unmissable.
Use case — Bulking phases or wasting conditions where appetite stimulation is desired. Typical research dosing 100-300 mcg subcutaneous 1-3x/day. Paired with GHRH analogs for synergy.
Caveats — The hunger pang is the feature for some, the dealbreaker for others. Cortisol and prolactin elevation similar to GHRP-2. Ipamorelin is preferred when appetite drive is unwanted.
