Hexarelin is a synthetic hexapeptide. One of the most potent growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRPs).
Mechanism: Binds the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) in the pituitary for GH release, and CD36 receptors in cardiac tissue for non-GH cardiovascular effects.
Use case: More potent GH release than Ipamorelin. Uniquely studied for cardiac protection. Improved left ventricular function in cardiomyopathy models. Recovery and tissue repair benefits beyond simple GH elevation.
Caveats: Tachyphylaxis (diminishing response) develops faster than with Ipamorelin. Cycling protocols are recommended. Higher cortisol and prolactin bump than gentler GHRPs.
