Oxytocin is a 9-amino-acid peptide hormone synthesized in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary.

Mechanism: Binds oxytocin receptors throughout the CNS and periphery. Drives social bonding, trust, post-orgasmic feelings, and uterine contractions during childbirth.

Use case: Intranasal or sublingual oxytocin is studied (and used off-label) for relationship intimacy, post-orgasmic feelings, anxiety, and certain social-deficit conditions. Often paired with PT-141 in sexual wellness protocols.

Caveats: Half-life is short. ~3–5 minutes peripheral, ~20 minutes CNS. Effects are subtle, not dramatic. Tolerance is debated. Don't expect 'love drug' magic.
